Pune: Maharashtra Higher and Technical Education Department , in collaboration with state universities, will launch School Connect 2.0 from Jan 1 to 15, 2025. This campaign targets students from Stds IX to XII to raise awareness about higher education opportunities , scholarships, and resources, including the SATHEE portal .
Developed by ministry of education and IIT Kanpur, SATHEE (Self-Assessment, Test, and Help for Entrance Examination) is designed to give free guidance for competitive exams such as JEE and NEET, offering significant support to students who cannot afford costly coaching. The campaign seeks to familiarize students and parents with National Education Policy implemented in the state in 2023-24. This includes flexible credit-based curricula, interdisciplinary studies, and skill-based education programmes like the Apprenticeship Embedded Degree Programme and SWAYAM.
Key aspects of School Connect 2.0 include workshops hosted by universities in partnership with affiliated junior colleges and schools. Each university will prepare presentations highlighting new skill courses, internships, and central govt schemes like the Vidya Lakshmi Loan Scheme, which facilitates educational loans for students pursuing higher studies.
Resource persons from universities and colleges will undergo specialized training to effectively deliver these workshops. Students will also have access to information about open and distance learning opportunities, innovative professional courses, and pathways for employment-oriented courses after Std X. Through campus tours, students will visit universities to gain insights into infrastructure and academic programmes, a government resolution from the higher education department said.
