12 yrs in Canada, PO now arrested

Ludhiana: The Khanna police have detained an assault-case fugitive who landed in the country after 12 years in Canada. The immigration authorities intercepted Jatinder Singh of Mullanpur at Delhi’s international airport. Court had declared him a proclaimed offender in a 2007 assault case , but he left for Canada while on bail and skipped all court proceedings for more than a decade.

He also carried rioting charges after an altercation in his village. After court issued a proclamation against him around 12 years ago, police issued a lookout circular (LOC) to alert the authorities to his pending charges. His return triggered the LOC, resulting in his detention.
