According to the vicim’s family, the minor relative witnessed the murder of their son. Police are waiting for the autopsy report to confirm what caused Abhishek’s death. The market remains closed on Sundays.

The family said Abhishek’s feet were touching the ground and therefore it cannot be a suicide. Moreover, there was no reason for Abhishek to end his life, they said. Abhishek’s father Ramanand Kumar said, “My son had gone to get a haircut.

Around 8pm, he returned home after which I asked him to have dinner. Abhishek said that he wanted to have bath first, but I insisted that he take a bath in the morning before going to the school. Thereafter, Abhishek said he wanted to have milk.

He took money and went out to purchase milk from a nearby shop.” Kumar said, “When Abhishek did not return after 10 minutes, I asked my wife to look for him. While she was searching for him, a minor boy who is our relative too came running and told that someone has killed Abhishek.

He narrated that when he and Abhishek were returning home after purchasing milk, two men who came on a bike stopped them. They picked Abhishek, made him sit with them on the bike, and fled. He ran behind them to see where they were taking Abhishek.

The boy told us that the duo took Abhishek to the grain market, slapped him and strangled him. Thereafter, they hanged him in the market.” The family rushed to the spot and found their son hanging from a rod, “with his feet touching the floor”.

They dialled the police after which the boy’s body was taken to the civil hospital. The father said, “Abhishek is too to young to commit suicide. Moreover, his feet were touching the ground which indicates that it was not a suicide.

Moreover, the boy who is our relative had seen two masked men beating up and strangulating Abhishek. It is clearly a murder case.” Assistant commissioner of police (north) Devinder Chaudhary, said, “The police suspect it to be a suicide case, as cops have checked the CCTV in which the deceased boy was seen alone in the grain market.

” When asked about the minor boy who claims to be an eyewitness to the murder, ACP Chaudhary said, “The police probe so far found that the boy had only seen Abhishek’s body hanging from a rod in the market and informed his family. To ascertain the cause of death, the police will wait for the autopsy report. A board of doctors will conduct the autopsy on Tuesday.
