Pune: As many as 101 criminals on police records from Talegaon Dabhade, Talegaon MIDC, Shirgaon, and Dehu Road police stations were externed from the Maval taluka from Nov 15 for a period of seven days ahead of the assembly elections. They will be, however, allowed to exercise their voting rights between 7am and 10am on Nov 20 after informing the in-charge of the local police station. Along with Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari constituencies, some areas of Maval, Khed, Khadakwasla, and Bhor-Velhe constituencies are under the limits of the Pimpri Chinchwad police .

The police have already started taking preventive actions in these areas to maintain law and order. Pimpri Chinchwad police commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey has told the anti-gunda squad of the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch to prepare a list of the criminals on police records in the four police stations: Talegaon Dabhade, Talegaon MIDC, Dehu Road, and Shirgaon, which are under the Maval constituency and issued orders to extern them for the smooth conduct of elections. DCP (zone-II) Vishal Gaikwad told TOI, "Most of the criminals in the list have serious offences registered against them.

These criminals have been temporarily externed for fair and fearless elections.".
