Nayanthara has responded strongly to Dhanush K Raja 's legal notice regarding the usage of footage from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan sets in her documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairy Tale. The film, produced by Dhanush, holds special significance as it marked the beginning of her relationship with her current spouse, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan . The actress penned an open letter discussing her attempts to secure a No Objection Certificate for incorporating film elements in the documentary.

She expressed her disappointment at Dhanush's refusal to permit the use of songs or lyrics from what she considers a significant film in her career. The actress accused Dhanush of intentionally remaining undecided for two years, necessitating a documentary re-edit. She attributed his refusal to personal animosity rather than professional considerations.

"It's almost been 10 years since the release of the film, and it is a long time for someone to continue to be this vile while wearing a mask in front of the world. I have not forgotten all the horrible things that you said about the film that was one of your biggest hits as a producer and a film that is loved by all even today," the actress wrote. She expressed bewilderment at receiving a legal notice demanding Rs 10 crore in damages for using 3 seconds of footage, which she claims was captured on personal devices and is already available on social media platforms.
