A proposal to build 10 houses on a small triangle of green space on Kingsdown Lane in Blunsdon has been withdrawn. Development company Turnpike Estates, based in Swindon , had put in an application to build the small estate between the houses in Small Acres south of Kingsdown Lane, and the road. The submitted plans showed the detached houses would be arranged around and L-shaped access road which would come directly south from Kingsdown Lane.
The border with Small Acres would be formed by greenery and trees. twitter.com/TusaEfkg7c Blunsdon Parish Council objected to the scheme saying there were 24 new houses already built on the road since 2020 with another 27 with planning permission, and the development would constitute an unacceptable impact on the community and the character of the street and area, as well as concerns about road safety, traffic and parking. The parish council requested that the matter be called in for discussion by the councillors sitting on Swindon Borough Council’s planning committee if Euclid Street planners were in favour of the scheme.
The borough council’s highways, landscape, ecology and arboricultural officers all objected to the proposals, either requesting further information or objecting in principle. The application has now been withdrawn..
