Many iconic movie lines have embedded themselves in our daily lives. From Jerry Maguire 's "Show me the money" to Taken 's "What I do have are a very particular set of skills", from Toy Story 's "To infinity and beyond", to practically the entire Mean Girls movie, these quotes can evolve into shorthand for everyday moments and situations. But occasionally, these quotes also morph into something else entirely.
Whether it's a shortening of a longer line, a change in tense or a merging of multiple other quotes, the resulting misquotes can have us all spouting words that never actually happened on screen. Here are some of those most common slip-ups. It's one of the most quoted movies in history, but we've all been saying this iconic Forrest Gump quote just ever so slightly wrong.

It's one of the biggest plot twists in cinematic history, so it seems fitting that Darth Vader's most famous Star Wars line also has a legacy as one of the most misquoted as well.

Both Ingrid Bergman and Humphrey Bogart's characters ask Dooley Wilson's Sam to play 'As Time Goes By', but not in the way it's regularly quoted.
