At least 10 workers were injured in an explosion at a factory in Meghna ghat area of Narayanganj's Sonargaon upazila this morning. The injured are now undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute in Dhaka, said Shawon Din Rahman, resident surgeon of the hospital. All the victims received 15 to 20 burn injuries during the blast, he also said.
Quoting the victims, the physician said that the incident took place at a factory of Bashundhara Group around 10:00am. Abdul Mannan, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence (Narayanganj-2) said that they were informed of a fire incident by the factory authorities. The fire was doused before the fire fighters started for the factory, he added.
"One unit of the fire service was sent to the scene. Details could be known after primary investigation.".
